Improved Planning for Rural Economic Development
While economic development responsibilities and funding may be chaotic and seem barely relevant to recessionary circumstance, planning guidance covering economic development topics is being better integrated.
In its response to the Taylor Review a new combined planning statement will be published following consultation on drafts, bringing together:
PPS 4 Planning for Sustainable Economic Development PPG5 Simplified Planning Zones PPS6 Planning for Town Centres PPS7 Sustainable Development in Rural Areas, the economic development policies.
Taylor recommended such changes to reduce apparent conflicts between separate policy interpretations of sustainability, but the suggested pilot of planning restrictions on second homes in national parks was rejected.
